Interior Designer
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Interior Designer to contribute to a dynamic project team, providing creative and technical expertise in space planning, design, documentation, and construction administration. This role involves close collaboration with internal teams, consultants, and clients to deliver high-quality, functional, and aesthetically compelling interior solutions.
Responsibilities
Project Coordination & Collaboration
• Work closely with project teams to develop scheduling and workflow strategies aligned with overall project timelines.
• Maintain organized digital file management practices and promote adherence within the team.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to ensure seamless project execution.
• Participate in client presentations, both virtual and in-person, and lead key portions as required.
• Develop expertise within a specific market sector and contribute to its growth.
• Effectively manage time to balance multiple projects of various sizes.
Design, Visualization & Space Planning
• Demonstrate creativity in interior design, adapting solutions to diverse building types.
• Align design concepts with architectural direction to create cohesive project aesthetics.
• Integrate design decisions with construction methodologies and engineering disciplines.
• Apply industry best practices in space planning, ensuring compliance with regulations and functional requirements.
• Assist in the development and presentation of multiple design concepts to project teams and clients.
• Utilize computer-aided design tools to create and visualize design concepts.
• Research materials, finishes, and furniture selections based on function, aesthetics, and budget considerations.
• Contribute to business development efforts through the preparation of marketing and presentation materials.
• Stay informed on industry trends, innovations, and evolving best practices.
Technical Documentation & Detailing
• Develop project documentation from concept through construction, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Create detailed drawings for millwork, furniture, tilework, and other design elements.
• Generate finish schedules and location plans while maintaining knowledge of industry construction best practices.
• Adhere to internal standards for digital drafting and drawing organization.
• Conduct site observations and document existing conditions to inform design decisions.
• Perform numerical calculations such as space planning metrics, quantity takeoffs, and budget estimates.
• Ensure compliance with relevant building, accessibility, and fire safety codes.
Resource Management, Budgeting & Procurement
• Oversee the organization of physical and digital resource libraries.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of furniture, fixtures, and material costs.
• Prepare FF&E specifications, budgets, and procurement documents in alignment with project needs.
• Analyze bid documents and tabulate results for informed decision-making.
• Coordinate finish selections and material tagging with internal teams.
• Collaborate with third-party procurement firms and vendors as needed.
• Provide financial recommendations and cost-management strategies for clients.
• Review the work of junior team members to ensure accuracy and adherence to project goals.
Construction Administration
• Participate in value engineering discussions and integrate approved changes.
• Respond to RFIs and assist with shop drawing and submittal reviews.
• Maintain accurate documentation of procurement and construction phases.
• Coordinate with construction managers, contractors, and procurement teams.
• Attend construction-phase meetings and support site-related design execution.
Other Responsibilities
• Contribute to special projects and initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in interior design or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in interior design, design management, and project execution.
• At least 4 years of hands-on experience creating design solutions.
Technical Skills & Certifications
• Professional registration preferred but not required.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other industry-standard design tools.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple projects effectively.
