Successful candidates must be self-starting, motivated, innovative, articulate, and confident in a demanding, exciting and fast-paced environment. The Interior Designer will be responsible for all phases of interior design production for a variety of Federal work ranging from programming through construction administration.
Job Description:
• The Interior Designer will be responsible for handling major design decisions, involving spatial, aesthetic elements, detailing of materials and coordination of building systems.
• This person will manage multiple projects of various scales and must demonstrate skills in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
• The Interior Designer will perform building code reviews and write reports such as feasibility studies, condition reports, and recommendations.
• This position will work with other disciplines to ensure accuracy of the package, meet schedule, and budget commitments and must meet expectations for attendance and punctuality.
• The Interior Designer will meet with clients to prepare and/or validate the proposed scope of work and will be responsible for project cost control.
• This person will be expected to develop innovative interior architectural design concepts that are practical, conducive to the intended purpose or function, will be adept at addressing client goals while staying within project budget.
Requirements:
• Qualified candidates will have a desire for personal and professional growth and a will have a well-defined understanding of design and construction document processes.
• Candidate must be self-motivated with strong leadership experience.
• The candidate shall be experienced in all aspects of general architectural and interior practice including planning, programming, schematic design, production of construction documents (drawings and specifications), and creating finish boards and construction administration.
• Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience, demonstrated by working in a similar role.
• Registered Interior Designer preferred but not required.
• NCIDQ Certification required.
• Candidate with past federal project experience is strongly desired.
• Candidate must have a degree from an accredited school of Interior Design or Architecture with proven knowledge of the design process.
• Skilled written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated proposal and report writing experience.
• Strong problem-solving skills. This role requires the ability to apply a wide range of architectural and interior principles and practices with multiple clients and projects.
• Demonstrated desire and ability to mentor and motivate staff, build strong design talent and work with a team located at various offices.
• Ability to facilitate and support design charrettes.
• Experience in all phases of design, with a track record of completed, successful projects.
• Working in Revit and AutoCAD is required. Working in modeling programs such as Sketch Up & Lumion are preferred as well as Adobe Creative Suite.
• Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship
Physical Requirements
• Requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.
• Be able to work in an environment with open discussions and visitors without getting distracted.
• May be required to lift up to 20 lbs.
