About this role

At Demco, we understand that thoughtfully designed learning spaces can transform lives. Each library we redesign becomes a hub of curiosity, and every classroom we reimagine fosters an environment where students feel valued, supported, and inspired. We are seeking an Interior Design Team Leader ready to guide a talented interior design team while personally contributing to the creation of impactful educational environments across K-12 schools, public libraries, and institutions of higher education nationwide. The spaces we design serve real communities—students exploring their passions, educators shaping futures, and libraries serving as vital centers for connection and lifelong learning. As the Interior Design Team Leader, you will: • Lead and mentor a dedicated team of interior designers. • Manage our design workflow to ensure exceptional, timely project delivery. • Design innovative, large-scale solutions for major projects. • Present concepts directly to clients, helping them to visualize what's achievable. • Raise the bar for educational and library design across the country. • Your work will not just furnish spaces; it will create environments where communities can gather, learn, and thrive. Inspire & Lead • Supervise and develop the interior design team through personalized one-on-one meetings and annual reviews. • Collaborate on project proposals and evaluate completed designs. • Promote ongoing improvements within the department. Design with Intent • Create comprehensive, trend-forward design solutions that meet educational needs. • Utilize Revit and Enscape to construct immersive 3D environments. • Work closely with Sales and Project teams to turn concepts into reality. • Effectively present designs to schools and library stakeholders, both in-person and virtually. Pursue Excellence • Ensure product specifications are accurate for seamless project execution. • Support custom solutions and provide detailed shop drawings. • Maintain extensive product and vendor knowledge to deliver top-notch results. Qualified Candidates Will Have: • Associate's Degree in Interior Design. • A minimum of 5 years of professional interior design experience. • A proven track record of leadership and coaching abilities. • Advanced skills in Revit (including family creation). • Outstanding communication and presentation skills. • A creative approach grounded in educational trends, ergonomics, and ADA compliance. • A genuine passion for creating spaces that serve communities. Our ideal candidate is a dynamic leader who can inspire a team while also taking hands-on responsibility for complex strategic projects. You should be confident in your ability to present to key decision-makers and possess a blend of creativity and precision in execution. Above all, you must believe that the design of a space can profoundly impact how people learn, connect, and thrive. Please note that candidates without a PDF or link to work samples will not be considered.
