About this role
Seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join the K. Kelley Design Studio & Shop team for a paid internship. If you are a hard-working, self-starter with a passion for home interiors and an interest in learning more about interior design and retail, this position is for you.
Primary responsibilities will include assisting in the home boutique and supporting the principal interior... designer on residential design projects. Current projects are located in Florida, Connecticut, Vermont, and North Carolina (often serviced virtually).
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the principal interior designer across all stages of the interior design process.
- Assist with sourcing furniture, fixtures, finishes, and materials that align with client design preferences, budget, and timeline.
- Provide support with project management including budget development, status updates on client orders, schedules (tile, paint, install, etc.), and more.
- Assist with on-the-ground installation of furniture, fixtures, and finishes as needed.
- Manage and organize an extensive materials library regularly.
- Create detailed floor plans and elevations using AutoCAD. (Preferred, not required.)
- Work in the shop with guests to understand their wants and needs to provide welcoming customer service.
- Assist with shop inventory management (i.e. organization of inventory storage, point of sales system, and creating purchase orders).
Desired Skills/Requirements:
- Experience working in a retail space with an understanding of exceptional customer service.
- Ability to build relationships with clients to understand their unique needs.
- Proficient in CAD for creating floor plans and elevations (Nice to have!)
- Social media / marketing experience (i.e. Instagram, Facebook, Canva, video editing, social calendar creation.)
- Strong communication skills -- in person and over email.
