About this role

About the position The Student Lab Aide position is designed for individuals who are passionate about assisting fellow students in navigating various software programs essential for their academic success. This role requires a commitment of two days per week, with each session lasting between two to three hours in the afternoon. The primary focus will be on providing support for a range of software applications, including but not limited to AutoCAD, AutoCAD 3D, Revit Architecture, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign. The position is available for both the fall and spring semesters, making it an excellent opportunity for students looking to gain experience while contributing to their peers' learning environment. As a Student Lab Aide, you will be expected to foster a collaborative and supportive atmosphere in the lab, encouraging students to ask questions and seek help with their projects. Your role will not only involve direct assistance with software but also guiding students through problem-solving processes and helping them develop their skills in these applications. This position is ideal for students who have a strong understanding of the software mentioned and are eager to share their knowledge with others. Additionally, you will have the chance to enhance your own skills and gain valuable experience in a teaching and mentoring capacity. Responsibilities • Assist students with software programs including AutoCAD, AutoCAD 3D, Revit Architecture, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign. , • Provide guidance and support to students in navigating software features and functionalities. , • Encourage a collaborative learning environment by fostering open communication and problem-solving among students. , • Help students troubleshoot issues they encounter while using the software. , • Maintain a clean and organized lab environment. Requirements • Strong knowledge and proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD 3D, Revit Architecture, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign. , • Ability to communicate effectively and assist peers in understanding software applications. , • Patience and a willingness to help others learn. , • Availability to work two days per week in the afternoon for 2-3 hours. Nice-to-haves • Previous experience as a lab aide or tutor in a similar setting. , • Familiarity with additional software programs related to design and architecture.
