About the position The Interior Design Retail Sales Consultant at Ethan Allen Global Inc. plays a pivotal role in creating individualized design solutions for customers, whether in the design center, remotely, or in the customer's home. This position requires a deep understanding of space planning, fabric coordination, product selection, and overall project design. The consultant is expected to develop designs that align with customer preferences and budgets while effectively selling Ethan Allen's products and services. Success in this role is measured through various performance categories, including teamwork, customer service, communication skills, decision-making, project development, presentation, and technical skills. Additionally, consultants are evaluated based on benchmarks such as Minimum Monthly Sales, Home Calls, Accent Sales, Softgood Sales, Be-Backs, PI, Close Ratio, and participation in the Ethan Allen Trade Program. Design Consultants are also responsible for representing the Ethan Allen brand in all customer interactions, which includes greeting customers in the design center, establishing rapport, and conducting in-home consultations. They are expected to utilize grassroots marketing and social media platforms to grow the business and educate customers about the complimentary design services offered by Ethan Allen. Staying current on design and color trends is essential for creating fashionable design solutions that meet customer needs. Collaboration with team members is crucial to provide exceptional service before and after sales, ensuring customers are informed about their order status. Participation in corporate-sponsored marketing and training programs is required, as is educating customers on available financing options. The role also involves contributing to the design center's portfolio and utilizing corporate systems and technology to enhance efficiency in project design and customer service. Overall, the Design Consultant must be proactive in developing business plans and marketing strategies to exceed sales goals while maintaining a neat and orderly design center environment. Responsibilities • Create design solutions that are consistent with the customer's preference and budget. , • Sell Ethan Allen's products and services. , • Represent the Ethan Allen brand in all customer interactions. , • Greet customers professionally to establish rapport and obtain appointments and in-home consultations. , • Make home calls to evaluate customer needs and provide individualized design solutions. , • Utilize grassroots marketing and social media platforms to develop and grow the business. , • Educate customers about the complimentary design service offered by Ethan Allen. , • Stay current on design and color trends to create fashionable design solutions. , • Coordinate with the team to provide exceptional service to customers before and after the sale. , • Participate in all corporate-sponsored marketing and training programs as required. , • Educate customers on all Ethan Allen sponsored finance options available to them. , • Contribute towards the development and upkeep of the design center's portfolio. , • Utilize corporate systems and technology to maximize efficiency in designing projects and providing professional service. , • Enter orders utilizing the retail point of sale system. , • Maintain a neat and orderly design center projection. , • Work with the Design Center Leader/Design Sales Leader to develop business and marketing plans. , • Utilize technology such as 3-D Room Planner, CRM, and Live Chat to build project volume and client relationships. , • Utilize social media to enhance personal and company presence and build a network. Requirements • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a design-related field from an accredited institution with a minimum of one (1) year of practical interior design experience. , • Broad knowledge of interior design and effective sales techniques. , • Working knowledge of online sales and design tools. , • Good listening skills with excellent oral and written communication skills. , • General understanding of how to utilize social media and grassroots marketing to develop a book of business. , • Valid driver's license, with exceptions for those who can establish alternative transportation. , • Intermediate skill competency using digital floor planning technology; 3D applications are a plus. , • Experience using interactive technology to view design concepts such as augmented reality and virtual reality. , • Willingness and capability to learn new technologies. Nice-to-haves • Experience in a retail sales environment. , • Familiarity with Ethan Allen products and services. , • Proven experience in utilizing social media for business development.
