About this role

Job Summary We are seeking a highly organized and personable Interior Design Office Assistant to support our design team, and ensure smooth daily operations within our office. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative skills, excellent communication abilities, and familiarity with office management tools. This role offers an opportunity to work in a creative environment while honing your clerical and customer service skills, contributing to the successful execution of interior design projects. The ideal candidate can "wear many hats" as you can expect to aid with residential interior design projects as well as maintain inventory on our online shop. Responsibilities • Help manage several different interior design projects and direct inquiries appropriately • Correspondence with clients, trade and vendors professionally, providing exceptional customer service • Perform data entry, filing, and document proofreading to maintain accurate project records • Assist with bookkeeping tasks using Studio Designer, including invoicing and expense tracking • Assist with updating and maintaining online shop via Shopify • Support office management tasks such as organization of files, and maintaining a tidy workspace • Provide administrative support including typing correspondence, preparing presentations, and managing emails • Coordinate appointments and meetings, ensuring efficient scheduling and follow-up • Offer customer support by addressing client inquiries promptly and professionally • Utilize office software skills to streamline daily operations and improve workflow efficiency Requirements • Proven experience in office management, clerical work, or administrative support within a professional setting • Proficiency with Google Workspace applications, Shopify, and Studio Designer (or comparable platforms for invoicing) • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and proofreading abilities • Experience with bookkeeping is preferred but not mandatory • Excellent phone etiquette • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining professionalism under pressure • Strong computer literacy, typing skills, and time management capabilities • Previous experience in customer service or personal assistant roles is desirable • This position is integral to maintaining an efficient office environment that supports our interior design projects. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing diverse administrative responsibilities seamlessly. • Proficient in drafting software like AutoCAD in a plus • Basic knowledge of the interior design world Experience in Sketchup is a plus • Experience on construction site is a plus Melanie Lynn Interiors is a small but busy design studio specializing in custom single-family homes.
