• *Specific Job Summary**
The Interior Design Manager provides design support and graphic presentation assistance on feasibility studies for new resort development projects. Provides review of refurbishment design. Incumbent prepares facilities programs, conceptual designs, and other supporting information for cost estimating, presentation, and documentation on assigned projects.
When outside consultants are retained for due-diligence and conceptual design, Manager reviews work for compliance with design and scope objectives per MVC Design Standards and MVWC Licensing requirements.
• *Specific Expected Contributions**
Prepares initial concept diagramming and imagery
Coordinates and confirms specific project scope, schedule, and budget
Manages out-source consultants to produce designs for MVC projects in coordination with MI Interior Design to comply with MVW Licensing Agreement.
Support space planning, unit planning and other interior design related planning efforts as required.
Coordinate with internal departments, operational constituents, and external consultants for planning and design of assigned projects.
Provides design document review
Reviews FF+E shop drawings
Prepares out-source consultants for Executive Committee Design Review presentation
Develops and maintains electronic database of MVCI standard project components, primarily furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
Provides design assistance to MVC departments.
Maintains design library with vendors.
Evaluates contributions of in-house disciplines and outside consultants in the design efforts.
Establishes objective working relationships with MVC Departments and out-source consultants.
Develops knowledge and working understanding of MVC Design Standards, NFPA 101, International
Building Code, Americans with Disabilities Act and current corporate goals. Ensures specific project compliance.
Actively participates in continual improvement of MVC Design Standards.
Attends off-site meetings.
Domestic and International travel may be required.
Ability to produce graphic materials to communicate ideas and concepts.
Ability to comprehend graphic information and drawings.
• *Specific Candidate Profile**
Education:
Possesses an Interior Design degree from an accredited university. (Interior Design registration is not required but ultimately recommended. (Stamping and signature of drawings is not required).
Experience
1 to 2 years of interior design experience preferred. Working knowledge of material selections and exposure to FF&E specifications a plus
Skills/Attributes
Design and presentation skills to create concepts, set character, and present ideas.
Ability to prepare and manage evolution of design and facilities programs.
Ability to clearly express development, design, and technical concepts orally, graphically, and in writing.
Capacity and desire to interface with upper-level management.
Ability to listen and understand client's motivations and concerns; and then translate them into successful design.
Ability to manage team design efforts to achieve technically acceptable documentation to turnover to project management team.
Effective time management skills to meet assigned time schedules.
Maintains a professional attitude with all personnel in an office environment when solving problems.
Manages project transition and changing day-to-day priorities and activities with ease.
Willingness to seamlessly respond to changing deadlines and urgent situations with a calm and professional attitude.
Possesses general understanding of timeshare sales, marketing, hospitality, legal, and accounting functions.
Possesses general understanding of construction management, scheduling, contracts, budgets, and inspections.
Abilities to draw and sketch and competency in relevant graphic and design related computer programs - CADD, REVIT, Sketchup, Bluebeam or similar.
Competency with Microsoft office software programs - Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
