Job Description
The Interior Design Intern has responsibility to collaborate with the Design Studio in all project phases including design development, finish and material coordination and construction documentation.
This is a seasonal, paid internship position supporting the Interior Design Studio, requiring 3-4 full days/week of in-person attendance at our office in Philadelphia, PA on Mondays through Wednesdays or Mondays through Thursdays. Expected duration of position to be June-August 2025 with some flexibility in start and end dates.
Responsibilities
• Participate in all project phases including survey, schematic design, conceptual design, design presentation, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration.
• Participate in and foster a dynamic, creative, and collaborative studio environment that develops innovative design solutions.
• Participate in development of space planning concepts, conceptual design, and design development.
• Select finishes/material palettes, conduct relevant product research and generate specifications as required.
• Produce graphic presentations, 3D renderings, and assist with construction drawings.
• Collaborate with design team, clients, consultants, fabricators, and other vendors to meet overall project objectives.
• Assist with Revit/CAD file setup including importing/exporting files, layer conversion, and preparation of files to firm standards/templates.
• Assist with furniture, upholstery, lighting, fixtures, and appliance selections.
• Assemble finish and material boards for presentation.
• Assist with management of material library including organizing and putting away finishes, meeting with product vendors for routine updates, updating display with new products and managing incoming/outgoing materials.
• Accompany designers on visiting external sites as necessary for surveying or other activities such as taking measurements, photographs or notes; such visits may require walking, climbing stairs or navigating uneven ground.
• Adhere to company policies and guidelines listed in policies, procedures, and handbooks including wearing professional or business casual attire.
• Carry out requested tasks in support of our projects that are legal, moral, and in the company’s best interest.
• Represent the firm in a professional manner consistent with firm values and culture.
Requirements
Qualifications
• Pursuit of Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture. Please note that this is an interior design internship and while we can consider interior architecture candidates, you must be able to show relevant interior design coursework or professional experience. We are not able to offer architecture internships at this time.
• Portfolio showing relevant interior design coursework or professional experience.
• Strong proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), 3DSMax/Rhino, and MS Office.
• Demonstrate ability to provide analytical thinking, creative problem solving and application of time management skills.
