Interior Design Intern

Interior Design Intern (Summer 2025) Location: Indianapolis, IN (Corporate Office) Thompson Thrift Residential is looking for a talented Interior Design Intern to join our team for the summer of 2025! This internship will give you hands-on experience in overseeing interior design projects for new construction and creating thoughtful design experiences for our residents. You'll work closely with our Director of Design and project teams to gain exposure to all aspects of interior design management, from concept development to material selection and project coordination. Key Responsibilities: • Assist in managing the scope of work, budget, and schedule for interior design projects. • Support coordination between the project team and design consultants under the guidance of the construction team. • Help develop interior design concepts, including material and finish palettes, with the opportunity to contribute to design ideas. • Participate in creating design intent presentations, including material boards, color renderings, and visuals. • Assist with the production of interior design documents, such as FF&E specifications, material trays, and drawings. • Collaborate with the purchasing team to ensure that design intent is carried through the procurement process. • Participate in CapEx projects and gain experience in managing budgetary constraints and timelines. What You'll Learn: • Project management skills specific to interior design. • How to work with outside design firms and consultants. • Experience working on real-world design projects with a focus on multifamily developments. • Budgeting, coordination, and delivery of high-quality interior design solutions. • Software skills, including AutoCAD and presentation tools. Qualifications: • Pursuing a degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field. • Strong interest in interior design with a creative mindset. • Basic knowledge of design software (AutoCAD preferred but not required). • Excellent organizational and communication skills. • Ability to work effectively as part of a team. • Willingness to travel up to 20%.
