Interior Design Assistant
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Interior Designer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong aesthetic sense and the ability to transform spaces into functional and visually appealing environments. This role requires collaboration with clients, architects, and contractors to ensure that design concepts are executed effectively and meet client expectations.
Client Presentation Preparation
• Create accurate and to-scale floor plans using software including CAD and SketchUp.
Materials Sourcing:
• Resource and present furnishings, lighting, fabrics, etc for clients as requested by Principal Designer.
Purchasing and Receiving
• Create purchase orders using our design software, Studio Designer.
• Place and authorize payment for orders with vendors.
• Review order confirmation to match our internal purchase order.
• Continuous follow-up on pending orders.
• Monitor and confirm shipping dates.
• Schedule receiving center delivery and track fulfillment of shipments.
Vendor Communication
• Spearhead and address any necessary changes with vendors in a timely fashion.
• Troubleshoot any issues with items that are incorrect, not to spec, or damaged; finding a solution and providing project update.
Design Library Maintenance
• Review vendor catalogs for new and updated offerings.
• Order new fabric, wallpaper, and finish samples; adding new samples to existing library.
• Maintain design library:
• Organize, categorize, and price samples.
• Keep samples up to date (removing retired product memos, etc).
Client Proposal and Invoices
• Create and email Proposals or Invoices to Client.
• Answer related inquiries and follow-up on outstanding invoices.
• Confirm payment for Proposals or Invoices and apply payment in Studio Designer.
• Manage sales tax for all purchases, ensuring we have not been charged when ordered through vendors who have our Resale Certificate, documenting when items are purchased with a source not to the trade, etc.
Experience & Skills
• Passionate in all aspects of design.
• 1-3 years interior design experience. *required
• Meticulously organized, efficient, and detail-oriented.
• Excellent communication; both written and verbal.
• AutoCAD/Sketchup/Revit experience. *required
• Problem solving skills.
• Eager to learn new software programs.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Run errands as necessary for design projects including pick-ups/drop-offs.
• Support Interior Design team as needed.
• Bonus if proficient in Studio Designer, Microsoft Suite, Adobe Photoshop.
This position is part time and not to exceed 30-35 hours a week. This position will be in Cornelius, NC.
