About this role
Major duties include but is not limited to:
Plans, coordinates, and has oversight of projects that are furniture related in nature
Coordinates the removal, storage or disposal of old furniture and installation of new furniture
Coordination of Housekeeping Staff/Work Study Personnel, Volunteers and Contractors for installation and moving of furniture
Supervises the contractor providing services, including determining damages, ensuring satisfactory resolution of these claims and approving payments
Determines the best time for moves to occur in the VA overall calendar and in the scheduled time period
Coordinates with several VA services here at the VA to ensure the moves go efficiently and smoothly
Assists with moves by physically moving equipment and furniture and assembles furniture when required
Works with the facility space committee by coordinating the moves required to make the Space Plan work in a smooth and timely fashion
Participates in pre-design meetings, obtains pertinent information and initiates actions to obtain furniture within the specified criteria
Identifies and researches furniture criteria to meet functional capability required by users and space allotment
Performs evaluation of interior spaces, space planning and aesthetics using specialized knowledge of interior building construction, systems and equipment
Prepares government cost estimates, evaluates bid proposals and develops standards for efficient space management of furniture purchases
Researches and maintains current design resource library to include up-to-date furniture samples, as well as contact with manufacturing representatives to gather information and keep abreast of current products and innovations
Submits and tracks all purchase order relating to the furniture program
Ensures furniture order packages are completed correctly and on time by contracted project architects
Ensures the VA's standard for quality, durability and aesthetics are met
Ensures that installed products meets the VA's standards
Ensures project timetables are met
Ensures payments; handler warranty issues
Follow up with vendors and contractors for contracted projects to ensure contractor compliance with specifications, regulations and policy.
Prepares pre- and post-occupancy evaluations of project site as it pertains to furniture installation
Responsible for the ergonomic program and reasonable accommodation requests as it relates to furniture procurement
Conducts ergonomic evaluations, researching and purchasing furniture that meets ergonomic needs
Evaluates furniture placement for optimal ergonomic performance; maintaining an inventory of ergonomic supplies
Develops furniture packages for assigned projects, incorporating the most recent technology as it relates to ergonomics and design
Interviews users to determine their functional operations related to furniture needs and requirements
Prepares furniture selection plans and related documents
Protects printed and electronic files containing sensitive data
Protects data from unauthorized release or loss, alteration, or unauthorized deletion
Performs other duties as assigned and as needed by the service
Promotion Potential:
The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
