About this role
Independent interior designer specializing in mid to high-end residential
interior design has an opening for a capable, energetic, and responsible
interior design assistant or junior interior designer with a good design
education and, preferably, industry experience. Starting position depends on
education and experience. Ideal candidates will be personable, logical,
articulate, self-motivated, and able to multi-task while maintaining accuracy
and organization. Must work well as part of a team and able maintain positive
relationships with external partners. As a design assistant / junior interior
designer assist you will assist with all phases of the design process from
concept to construction administration and installation. Working closely with
the principal, candidates must be ready to take on any task, big or small.
This is an opportunity to learn many aspects of the design and business field.
You must be flexible and quick on your toes! I believe in a collaborative
process. I am more than willing to teach, but I want you to bring your own

OPPORTUNITIES: o sourcing furnishings and finishings o presentation and
meeting preparation o assisting designer in client meetings o completing site
measurements o drafting floorplans and elevations o project management o
communicating with manufacturers and vendors in purchasing process o creating
purchase orders and invoices o placing and tracking orders o coordinating
client deliveries and installations o compiling project specs o maintenance of
specification schedules o product research o managing samples o updating
social media o arranging and staging photo shoots of completed projects
QUALIFICATIONS: o proactive, analytical and consultative problem-solver and

of humor o plays well with others SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: o autocad
(proficiency or willingness to take classes immediately) o ms office suite -
excel, word, etc. (proficiency) o adobe creative suite - photoshop,
illustrator, indesign (preferred) o sketchup (preferred) o design resource
sites such as pinterest, houzz (familiarity) o degree or completion of
advanced coursework in interior design (preferred) o industry interior design
experience (one year minimum preferred) This is a part-time contract position;
approximately 20-25 hours per week as candidate availability and work flow
needs dictate. Generally flexible schedule. Opportunity to work remotely when
possible, combined with some on site project meetings, as well as partnering
with principal in a home office environment located in Cumberland Foreside,
Maine. Must have a car and driver's license in good standing. (Mileage is
reimbursed at IRS standard rates.) Compensation commensurate with experience.
