About this role

ABOUT THE POSITION The Design Assistant will support the Oslo Design Co. team with daily studio operations, procurement logistics, and project preparation. This role is highly hands-on and ideal for someone who enjoys the operational side of design—ensuring that all materials, furnishings, and project components are received, organized, tracked, and ready for execution. This position plays a critical role in the behind-the-scenes success of each project, from unboxing and organizing client purchases to preparing for installation days and coordinating item deliveries. The Design Assistant is also responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and fully functional studio environment on a daily basis. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Receive, unbox, and inspect client purchases, samples, and vendor shipments Organize, label, and track all incoming items, ensuring accuracy and condition upon arrival Maintain organized storage systems for project materials, furnishings, and accessories Monitor incoming deliveries from USPS, FedEx, UPS and vendors, adjusting workflow based on delivery schedules Coordinate with the team to track inventory and flag missing, damaged, or incorrect items Prepare and organize items for project installs, including pulling, packing, and labeling Coordinate delivery or drop-off of materials and furnishings to job sites, contractors, and vendors as needed Prepare and organize all materials, furnishings, and accessories for install days Assist with install day setup, styling, and breakdown as needed Support preparation for photoshoots and final styling Ensure all items are accounted for and ready for execution prior to install Assist designers with general project-related tasks and organization Support upkeep of project materials, samples, and documentation Provide hands-on support to ensure projects move forward efficiently and accurately Capture behind-the-scenes content during installs, site walks, and day-to-day studio activities Assist in creating simple, design-forward content such as flat lays, short videos, and in-studio moments for social media Support light marketing initiatives, including organizing or contributing to content ideas discussed by the team Maintain the daily cleanliness, organization, and overall upkeep of the studio, ensuring it is consistently client- and team-ready Reset and tidy the studio at the start and end of each day, including surfaces, materials, sample library, and shared spaces YOU ARE A GREAT FIT IF YOU: Are highly organized and detail-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership over your work Take pride in maintaining clean, orderly, and well-functioning spaces Are comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment Enjoy hands-on, operational work and are willing to jump in where needed Are reliable, proactive, and solutions-oriented Communicate clearly and work well within a team environment Have an interest in interior design or business operations Are comfortable using basic digital tools such as Google Drive and spreadsheets Are comfortable capturing simple photo and video content and have an eye for aesthetically pleasing, brand-aligned visuals EXPECTATIONS OF THE ROLE Studio & Operational Excellence Ensure the studio remains consistently clean, organized, and fully functional on a daily basis Maintain accurate tracking and organization of all incoming and outgoing project materials Support efficient workflows related to deliveries, storage, and project preparation Project & Installation Support Anticipate project needs and proactively prepare materials for upcoming installs Ensure all items are properly organized, labeled, and ready for execution Support seamless installation days through preparation and on-site assistance Team Contribution Act as a reliable and supportive team member, contributing to a positive and collaborative studio environment Take initiative in completing tasks and identifying areas where support is needed Uphold Oslo Design Co.’s standards for organization, professionalism, and execution Contribute to capturing and supporting brand storytelling through thoughtful, on-the-ground content creation LOCATION Oslo Design Co. is based in Madison, WI. This position will begin as a hybrid role, with a requirement to work in the studio for a minimum of one hour per day, Monday through Friday. Remaining hours may be completed flexibly based on project needs. Upon the opening of the Oslo Design Co. studio in downtown Madison (anticipated late summer 2026), this role will transition to fully in-person. Travel within the local area is required for deliveries, errands, and project support. REQUIREMENTS Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation Ability to run local errands and deliver items to job sites, contractors, and vendors Ability to lift and move boxes, furnishings, and materials as needed Availability during weekdays with flexibility based on delivery and install schedules ABOUT OSLO DESIGN CO.
