Position: Part-Time Interior Design Assistant Location:Kristin Burke Interiors, 623 E Silver Spring Dr, Whitefish Bay, WI 53217 Reports To: Operations Manager + Principal Designer About the Role We’re seeking a talented and detail-oriented Part-Time Interior Design Assistant to support our design studio with both creative and operational tasks. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about design, highly organized, and eager to grow within a collaborative and fast-paced environment. As a Design Assistant, you’ll work closely with our Principal Designer and design team to help execute client projects from concept to installation — ensuring every detail of the client experience feels seamless, thoughtful, and beautifully executed. Responsibilities Design & Creative Support Assist in developing design presentations and visual concepts via Canva Assist with CAD or Chief Architect drawings, layouts, and revisions Assist with sourcing furnishings, finishes, materials, and samples for ongoing projects Help prepare client presentations, mood boards, and project documentation Create detailed photography shot lists for completed projects Help style spaces during installations and photoshoots Client Experience & Communication Support client communication, scheduling, and meeting coordination Take notes during client meetings and update project management systems Handle thoughtful client touchpoints (gifting, birthdays, thank-you notes, etc.) Assist with creating and organizing client bins and sample kits Project Management & Coordination Assist with project documentation, budgeting, and timelines Help coordinate with trades, contractors, and warehouse teams Help oversee warehouse deliveries, quality checks, and installation prep Maintain the install kit and assist with on-site installations and styling days Support occasional project purchasing as directed by the design or procurement team Office & Operations Support Maintain and organize the design sample library Run local errands and assist with purchasing as needed Support office maintenance and organization to ensure an inspiring workspace Key Skills & Qualifications Proficiency in design software (CAD or Chief Architect preferred; SketchUp or Adobe Suite a plus) Proficient in Canva and G-Suite Proficient in reading and interpreting architectural plans and drawings Ability to learn our Project Management Software Strong organizational and multitasking skills Excellent written and verbal communication Eye for detail and design with a collaborative, team-oriented attitude Strong understanding of the KBI design aesthetic with the ability to apply it consistently across design presentations, client spaces, and installations Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively Valid driver’s license and ability to run local errands as needed Compensation & Schedule Part-time position (20-25 hours per week); flexible hours with potential for growth into a full time position Team-based role with an in-studio presence Monday-Thursday, 9AM-3PM Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience If you’re passionate about design, organization, and creating beautiful, functional spaces — we’d love to hear from you.
