About this role

Job Purpose: As a designer in the commercial furniture industry, you will design and create furniture plans, 3D renderings, and specifications for contract furniture. RESPONSIBILITIES: · Responsible for all size projects. · Review assigned Design Service Requests with Sales, AM, or PM depending on who submitted and acquire any details not clear or understood. · Produce accurate drawings, space planning, conceptual drawings, renderings, and product application. Put together budgetary specs as well as order ready specs once details are provided. · Generate accurate specifications for approved plan by having complete knowledge of specification including fabric/finishes based on finish schedule provided by Account Manager. · Plot installation drawings for upcoming jobs, notifying Account/Project Manager and asking for any additional information not previously given. Submit installation drawings one week prior to installation. · Create , maintain and update accurate as built drawings from markups received back from Account/Project Manager. Notify Account/Project Manager via email or in-person of complete/dated as-built drawings. · Manage project folder with current up to date files, archiving old ones. Follow standard labeling process. · Provide alternative design solutions to client. . Assist sales/project manager with research & specification of product · Must be capable of self-checks & double checks before submitting specs to team. Double Checks need to be completed by factory or outsourced designers. CONTRACT FURNITURE/DESIGN INDUSTRY KNOWLEDGE (PREFERRED, NOT REQUIRED HOWEVER): • Strong knowledge of interior design field and current practices • Understanding of workplace environment issues (ergonomics, technology integration, teaming, alternative officing, etc.) • Working knowledge of the dealership's contract furniture lines, including features/benefits, pricing, application and assembly, specification options and nomenclature, etc. • Understanding of contract furniture product, including systems, filing, casegoods and seating QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: · Two (2) to five (5) years of experience in Design or related field preferred. · Knowledge of Giza or AutoCAD preferred (not required, however). · Knowledge of modular furniture systems preferred (not required, however). · Excellent organization and interpersonal communication skills. · Outstanding time management skills and proven ability to work well under deadline pressure. · Detail oriented and self-sufficient.
