About the position The Senior Exterior Designer at Ford Motor Company will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of electric vehicles by creating innovative and compelling exterior designs. This position involves working on both advanced and production exterior projects, focusing on human-centered design and collaborating with various stakeholders to achieve holistic design visions. The designer will be responsible for translating concepts into 3D models and ensuring that designs meet customer needs and global trends. Responsibilities • Develop conceptual and production-based exterior solutions through sketches, renderings, and 3D digital models. , • Create compelling and innovative exterior design experiences for design projects. , • Emphasize human-centered design in the holistic exterior design experience. , • Coordinate the work of other design personnel to achieve cohesive design visions. , • Create future brand-focused design visions that align with Ford's strategic goals. , • Engage in problem-solving around connectivity, mobility, and consumer segments. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in industrial design, Transportation Design, or a similar field, or equivalent experience. , • 1+ years of automotive or transportation design experience, including final design product execution. , • 1+ years of experience translating 2D designs to 3D with a strong emphasis on proportions and form. , • A design portfolio (pdf) must be provided upon application. Nice-to-haves • Global exterior design experience. , • Good understanding of exterior/interior manufacturing processes and materials. , • Passion for the automotive and mobility industry, global trends, innovation, and customer needs. , • Experience working in or with creative cultures. , • Experience managing multiple stakeholders across complex projects. , • Experience presenting to executive audiences. , • Ability to interpret customer needs and global trends into compelling design. , • Ability to work independently and provide strong technical aesthetic judgment. , • Awareness of global automotive and consumer electronics trends. , • Demonstrated creative exterior/interior design perceptions and capabilities. , • Collaboration experience with Engineering, Suppliers, and other partners.
