About this role

About Pillar & Peacock Pillar & Peacock is an interior design firm dedicated to synthesizing beauty and function. Our name reflects our commitment to both exquisite design and precise planning: Pillar, for architectural fundamentals that create usability and flow; and Peacock, for the expressive beauty and artistry that bring spaces to life. Our portfolio spans residential and commercial projects, including new construction, renovations, additions, multi-family developments, offices, and interior-design–only engagements. We believe that exceptional design is the result of thoughtful collaboration and a deep understanding of each client's goals, style, and daily needs. Our process blends technical rigor with creative expression, resulting in spaces that are intuitive, enduring, and inspiring. We’re a collaborative, detail-driven design studio with offices in Virginia and Alabama, and we’re seeking a Draftsperson to join our growing team. Key Responsibilities • Prepare detailed interior drawings including: • Interior Elevations • Furniture plans • Reflected ceiling plans • Floor finish plans • Millwork selections and detailing • Produce and compile complete construction drawing sets with accurate dimensions, notes, legends, and specifications. • Translate design sketches, concept imagery, and photographs into fully developed and accurate CAD drawings. • Coordinate closely with the design team to ensure all documentation reflects project standards and design intent. • Maintain drawing accuracy and consistency throughout all project phases—from schematic design through construction documentation. • Contribute to the refinement and evolution of office CAD standards, templates, and documentation best practices. Qualifications • Proficiency in AutoCAD required; experience with Revit or other drafting software is a plus. • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in interior design, architecture, or related drafting roles. • Strong understanding of interior construction methods, architectural detailing, and documentation standards. • Ability to read, interpret, and develop architectural drawings and specifications. • Exceptional attention to detail and strong communication skills. • Experience working collaboratively within a design studio environment. Preferred Attributes • A refined design eye with a strong sense of proportion, balance, and visual harmony in architectural detailing. • A passion for design excellence, craft, and precision. • Appreciation for both the artistry and the technical rigor required to create timeless interiors. • Self-motivated, organized, dependable, and responsive to feedback from designers and project leads. Working Conditions • Full-time, 40 hours per week • Based at Pillar and Peacock, with potential for hybrid work flexibility depending on project needs. • May require occasional travel to project sites for field measurements, coordination, or documentation. • Requires the ability to sit for extended periods, work on a computer, review drawings and samples, and lift up to 25 pounds.
