Director of Interior Design & Construction, 2 Hour Learning (Remote) - $200,000/year USD Certain spaces simply work. You instinctively want to understand what makes them succeed. We are establishing a nationwide network of 2 Hour Learning campuses. These facilities enable students to complete a full academic curriculum in two focused hours, then dedicate the remainder of their day to passion projects, practical life skills, and physical activity. Your responsibility is to make these environments memorable. As the accountable leader for interior environments across our campus network, you will establish modular frameworks for spatial planning, furniture, fixtures, equipment, play areas, and directional signage. You will guarantee flawless execution at each location. You will visit campuses, identify issues others overlook, define upgrade scopes, and shepherd projects from budgeting through installation. This role differs from conventional design positions—it is not isolated from implementation. You will not submit drawings and disengage. Instead, you will be present to resolve installation challenges, educate vendors, and gather insights that refine subsequent deployments. What You Will Be Doing Develop modular, repeatable design frameworks for spatial layouts, FF&E, finishes, and play environments that function across varied campus sites Execute on-site evaluations with standardized assessment tools to measure compliance with brand standards and identify high-value enhancements Prepare detailed, visual, budget-conscious proposals for facility improvements that align with educational philosophy, brand identity, and family experience Manage vendor performance on-site, maintaining adherence to standards, budgets, and schedules through active quality assurance Complete post-installation reviews by recording successes and failures, then revising operational guides to reflect learnings What You Won’t Be Doing Creating unique, bespoke environments that cannot be systematized or repeated. Delivering specifications and disengaging. You own the entire process from evaluation through completion. Waiting for complete information. All work is tightly aligned with brand guidelines and operational realities. Operating remotely. You will spend 50-75% of your time traveling to campus locations. Director Of Interior Design & Construction Key Responsibilities Guarantee that every campus provides a high-quality, brand-consistent, and educationally effective physical environment through the development and implementation of scalable, modular design systems. Basic Requirements 5+ years of professional experience designing and executing multi-location environments in sectors such as education, retail, hospitality, or co‑working Portfolio demonstrating completed projects that achieve both visual excellence and operational feasibility Proven track record developing scalable, standards-driven design systems rather than singular custom projects Hands‑on management of vendor execution, including oversight of installation quality and schedule adherence Excellent documentation capabilities and communication skills with cross‑functional teams, particularly non‑design partners Comfortable with frequent travel, 50‑75% of the time, throughout the United States Currently based in the U.S. with authorization to work without requiring visa sponsorship Nice‑to‑have Requirements Background designing premium environments with rigorous quality expectations, such as boutique hospitality, luxury retail, or high‑end residential projects Proficiency with spatial design and documentation software including AutoCAD, Revit, Figma, or similar platforms Intuitive ability to create elevated spatial experiences within constrained budgets About 2 Hour Learning Education is broken, but 2 Hour Learning is proving it doesn’t have to be.
