Director of Interior Design
Role:
The Interior Design Director is responsible for developing design concepts, leading project teams, and presenting design proposals to clients. Responsible for ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. This role requires a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of design trends and materials.
Responsibilities:
• Thorough understanding of roles and responsibilities of those reporting to them.
• Technical and administrative supervision of Interior Design Services.
• Assures Interior Design work products meet standards of professional care and office standards.
• Monitors, through clients and outside contacts, critical industry trends and specialized
• Knowledge to the firm-wide long range planning process.
• Coordinates with other Studio Heads to allocate and optimize man-power resources.
• Assists and provides input into hiring and staff reduction activities.
• Provide project programming, budgets, scheduling.
• Monitor and maintain client communications.
• Oversee, prepare and make client presentations.
• Oversee and administer FF&E design processes.
• Coordinate with the Vice President of Design on project designs.
• Respond to Interior Design RFQs/RFPs and prepare proposals for interior design projects.
Personnel:
• Monitors and allocates manpower resources among Interiors staff on weekly basis (or more
frequently if required).
• Reviews assigned staff biweekly time sheets.
• Performs performance reviews for assigned staff and reports to the Vice President, Director of Design for employee reviews.
• Monitors and encourages professional development progress.
• Mentors and assists employees in their preparation for Certification.
Financial:
• Monitors and are familiar with project budgets and schedules established for Interior Design
projects adjusting among staff as required.
• Monitors financial indices and assists in collections and resolution of financial issues with Owners
and Consultants.
Requirements:
• A bachelor's degree in interior design, architecture, or a related field is typically required. Advanced degrees or certifications (like LEED or NCIDQ) may be preferred.
• 7-10 Years of experience in commercial interior design preferredin a leadership role.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop and InDesign as well as Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
• Strong business development skills
• Reports to: Vice President, Director of Design and President/CEO.
