Director of Interior Design

Position Overview: Design Space Studios is seeking a full-time Design Director with at least 5 years of experience in Commercial Interior Design and Construction. The ideal candidate will have strong design, project management, and collaborative skills and technical expertise in design and construction documentation. Responsibilities include leading projects of varying scales, managing project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, and effectively communicating with internal and external teams. The role also involves mentoring the design team and ensuring projects align with client needs and our core values while maintaining creativity. Designer Responsibilities: • Manage all phases of design projects independently, including client relationships, design solutions, specifications, documentation, team coordination, and consultant interactions. • Mentor the design team and oversee task delegation, with guidance from the ownership team. • Adapt to varying project needs and responsibilities (e.g., Project A: Project Manager, Project B: Drafting Support). • Lead initiatives for improving internal design processes and collaboration, and update documentation standards. • Knowledge of commercial furniture specifications and procurement processes is a plus. • Manage client relationships and work with the ownership team on project timelines, budgets, and business development. • Coordinate with purchasing to ensure product accuracy and resolve delivery/installation issues. • Possess a creative mindset, navigate job responsibilities independently, and be a self-starter. Education & Experience Requirements: • 5+ years of architectural/interior design and project management experience. • Bachelor’s degree in architecture or interior design. • Experience working with an architectural or commercial design firm Skillset Requirements: • Strong understanding of commercial design and construction documents. • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and people skills. • Proficiency in REVIT, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite. • Ability to work in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team environment. • Capable of managing deadlines, resources, and project progress. • Ability to manage multiple projects at a time in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
