Director of Interior Design - Residential Remodeling (NYC)

As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Director of Interior Design to lead our design department while managing a select portfolio of high profile client projects. This is a senior leadership position for someone who is equally passionate about exceptional design, client relationships, team development, and operational excellence. What You'll Do As the Director of Interior Design, you will set the creative vision and quality standards for our design department while ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and at the highest level of excellence. Your responsibilities will include: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of interior designers, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and high performing culture. Manage your own portfolio of luxury apartment renovation projects from initial consultation through construction completion. Serve as the primary design advisor for clients, creating an exceptional experience throughout the design process. Review and approve all design work, ensuring consistency, creativity, accuracy, and alignment with company standards. Collaborate closely with sales, project managers, architects, engineers, expeditors, and construction teams to ensure every project is both beautifully designed and successfully executed. Develop and improve department standards, design processes, templates, and workflows to increase efficiency and consistency. Support the sales team during consultations and help clients make informed design decisions that maximize both value and project success. Stay current with industry trends, materials, products, and innovations while continuously elevating the firm's design capabilities. Qualifications We're looking for a proven leader who has successfully designed and delivered residential renovations and has experience leading other designers. Required Qualifications Minimum 10 years of hands on interior design experience focused on apartment renovations. Extensive experience designing custom kitchens, bathrooms, and complete apartment remodels. Proven experience managing and mentoring a team of designers. Strong portfolio of completed residential renovation projects. Deep understanding of construction detailing, millwork, cabinetry, lighting, plumbing fixtures, finish selections, and space planning. Experience coordinating with architects, engineers, project managers, and contractors throughout construction. Outstanding client presentation, communication, and leadership skills. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Proficiency with AutoCAD Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a design build environment. Experience with Manhattan and Brooklyn co-op and condominium renovations. Knowledge of NYC construction processes, building requirements, and consultant coordination.
