Birkla Investment Group is currently seeking a Director of Design to join our team at our Carmel Office. The Director of Design is responsible for the plans, designs, and furnishing interiors of multi-family, mixed-use office, and hotel buildings. They have strong creativity and an eye for detail. RESPONSIBILITIES
• Formulate design, which is practical, aesthetic, and conducive to intended purposes, such as raising productivity, sales, or improving lifestyle.
• Collaborate with the Architectural firms, Construction, Design Team, and Property Management to determine factors affecting planning interior environments, such as budget, architectural preferences, purpose, and function. Work closely to ensure seamless coordination and implementation of the design.
• Proven ability to set and cause design standards and deliverable deadlines to be met by design professionals under contract with Birkla Investment Group
• Proficient in project management, client/designer collaboration, space planning, material selection, budgeting, vendor coordination, compliance and design presentation.
• Develop design concepts and create visual representations such as sketches, mood boards, or 3D renderings to communicate ideas, considering factors such as color schemes, materials, lighting, and furniture placement.
• Develop project budgets and provide cost estimates for materials, furnishings, and labor.
• Designer will be involved in approved projects from procurement to installation.
• Stay up to date on the latest design trends, materials, and technologies.
• Provide expert consultation when working with clients.
• Work through the permitting process with various municipalities.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements Include:
• Bachelor's degree in interior design, urban planning, and architectural design.
• 5+ years of interior, urban, and architectural design experience is preferred.
• A self-starter with a strong work ethic and strong interpersonal skills are required for success in this position.
• Experience using design software is required.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
• Ability to be organized, detail-oriented, and to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Must possess exceptional organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to balance and prioritize simultaneous projects and tasks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Must present the ability to execute job duties within time constraints and circumstances such as tight deadlines or other difficult situations.
• Must be willing to travel to various locations within driving distance via car multiple times a month, including overnight trips.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
