Designer - Residential Construction and Remodeling

Bring Dream Homes to Life Join Our Team as a Residential Designer We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Residential Designer to join our team as a part-time independent contractor. This is a unique opportunity to combine your passion for design with sales and client collaboration. About Us Alpha Design+Build has been transforming homes and enhancing lives through personalized design and superior craftsmanship since 1989. Based in Ann Arbor, we specialize in residential design/build new homes and remodeling, including kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and additions. Key Responsibilities • Create engaging and highly functional residential designs using Chief Architect or similar software. • Guide clients through the design process with professionalism, empathy, and creativity. • Prepare proposals and collaborate with the construction team to ensure project feasibility. • Contribute to company sales goals through effective consultative selling. • Presentation of design concepts and product options that align with client budgets and preferences. • Maintain a deep knowledge of cabinetry, countertops, flooring, and current design trends. • Maintain clear communication with clients, team members, vendors, and subcontractors. • Participate in company meetings when required. • Travel locally for site visits and client consultations as needed. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in interior design, architecture, or related field or equivalent experience in professional design. • Minimum of 3 years of residential design experience. • Proficiency in Chief Architect is a must. Alpha+Design Build will provide the designer with a subscription to this program and technology support. • Strong understanding of residential construction materials and layout planning. • Customer-centric with strong interpersonal and presentation skills. • Tech-savvy with experience in CRM and project management tools. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Able to work occasional evenings/weekends based on client availability. • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally.
