JOB TITLE: Designer I – Interior Design
JOB SUMMARY: The Designer-I is an entry level position as part of Cooper Carry’s professional staff. The primary activity for a Designer-I is to assist in the development of design and/or technical solutions for projects, under the supervision of a team, including a licensed Interior Designer, that contribute to its overall success.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Develop interior design skills to include drawing, rendering, and visual/presentation skills
Develop a working knowledge of materials and finishes, and assist in the selection of appropriate solutions for projects
Hone and advance computer software skills (Revit, Photoshop, sketch-up, word, excel, etc.)
Understand key sustainability requirements, and further one’s knowledge of select initiatives
Begin to develop an ability to make design and documentation decisions using discretion and good judgement
Prepare and produce design and construction drawings, as directed
Gain an understanding of building systems, codes, and construction methods
Contribute as required to support the success of the studio and firm
Encouraged to begin to understand the NCIDQ registration process
Collaborate with other Cooper Carry staff/studios as required to meet project objectives.
Adhere to both Cooper Carry and the Client guidelines and meet project design objectives, deadlines, and client requirements
Actively participate in professional development both inside and outside the firm
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate of an accredited Interior Design/Architecture program with Bachelor’s or Master’s level degree
Zero to one+ years’ experience in a Commercial Design setting
Creative and collaborative with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced team atmosphere
Proficiency with required computer software; including knowledge of Autodesk Revit and Adobe Photoshop and/or InDesign
A strong desire to learn, ask questions, and be taught numerous things
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
