We’re growing and seeking a Designer who is passionate about luxury residential design, values teamwork, and thrives in a detail-driven environment. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the aesthetic and functionality of high-end spaces in some of the Triangle’s most beautiful homes.
• *We are seeking candidates who reside in the Triangle area and can commute daily to our office, located at 5102 Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd, Suite 100, Durham, NC 27707. This is a full-time, on-site role, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM**
Position Summary:
The Designer at CQC Home plays a pivotal role in shaping the client experience and delivering high-quality, thoughtful, and functional design solutions for residential remodeling projects. This individual leads the creative and logistical aspects of the design process—from concept development through construction documentation and final selections—while ensuring alignment with the client's vision, project budget, and CQC’s construction standards.
Designers are trusted to balance creativity, precision, and project management, acting as the liaison between the client, the design team, and the production team. This role is suited for a passionate, organized, and communicative professional eager to bring beautiful designs to life while meeting measurable project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Development & Documentation
• Lead the design vision and development for assigned remodeling projects.
• Create and present floor plans, elevations, and 3D renderings to clients.
• Collaborate with draftsmen on construction drawings and existing/proposed conditions.
• Ensure code compliance and feasibility of proposed designs.
• Redline and approve technical drawings and selections for construction handoff.
Client Engagement & Communication
• Serve as the primary design contact for clients throughout the design phase.
• Facilitate design meetings, presentations, and material reviews.
• Translate client needs and lifestyle preferences into thoughtful design solutions.
• Educate clients about options, alternatives, and cost impacts of design decisions.
Selections & Sourcing
• Curate all architectural and interior selections including cabinetry, countertops, tile, plumbing fixtures, hardware, lighting, and paint.
• Source materials that align with the design concept, budget, and availability timelines.
• Enter all selections into software platform (e.g., BuilderTrend, JobTread) with accurate specifications and pricing.
• Coordinate sample orders and maintain organized material libraries.
Budget Management
• Collaborate with estimators and project directors to ensure design solutions meet project budget goals.
• Make design adjustments as needed to balance aesthetics and cost.
• Provide value-engineering options when budget revisions are necessary.
Team Collaboration
• Work closely with draftsmen, estimators, project directors, and the construction team.
• Attend internal project handoff and coordination meetings.
• Support junior designers and interns through mentorship and feedback.
• Communicate design clearly to all stakeholders.
Quality & Accountability
• Own the accuracy and completeness of all design deliverables.
• Ensure all documentation is consistent with CQC’s quality standards and workflows.
• Respond promptly to design-related RFIs during the construction phase.
• Remain accountable to project timelines and deliverable deadlines.
Key Performance Indicators
• Projects progressing to construction within 90 days of design start.
• Revenue generated from projects under design exceeding $2.5–3 million annually.
• Client satisfaction and positive post-project design reviews.
• Consistent on-time completion of design milestones.
Requirements
• Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field
• 3+ years of experience in residential design, remodeling, or construction
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and rendering tools (e.g., Enscape)
• Strong understanding of construction methods, design theory, and material applications
• Exceptional communication, time management, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team

Pay: $50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
