Stephanie Freeman Design is a Brookline-based residential interiors firm, creating unique, custom homes for clients in the Boston area and beyond. Our work blends styles to create soulful spaces that defy categorization. We love renovations that require our expertise in interior architecture. We take our work seriously, but we strive for a work hard / play hard culture and don’t take ourselves too seriously. We’re searching for team members that want to do inspired and challenging work, and have fun doing it.
We offer 3 weeks paid vacation in additional to paid holidays (including the week between Christmas and New Years).
Description: DESIGNER
We are seeking an experienced designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will not only bring technical design skills and multi-tasking ability / detail-orientation, but also a strong design point of view and instinct for layering materials and furnishings to create a cohesive and interesting design. We love and are influenced by all design styles, but there is a modern filter on all we do, and we want that to feel authentic and exciting for this candidate.
Responsibilities
• Manage the day-to-day aspects of your assigned client projects, through both the design phase and the execution / construction phase, with Stephanie’s guidance
• Attend and actively participate in client design presentations and correspondence
• Gather thoughtful, curated design inspiration imagery and compose mood boards
• Create floor plans, models, renderings, and construction documents
• Efficiently FF&A options, filtering for SFD aesthetic and client budget
• Design and detail custom millwork and furniture
• Compose compelling design presentations, weaving together 2D, 3D, physical materials, and printed materials for maximum clarity and impact
• Actively seek methods of incorporating AI / ChatGPT into our workflow to maximize efficiency
• Act as the lead point of contact between GC and SFD throughout the project.
• With support of Junior Designer, create and maintain construction documentation (i.e. schedules / spec books) in Google Sheets and physical binders.
• Assist Stephanie with accurately projecting required design hours by project, and then monitoring & managing your time and junior designer time against those projections
Qualifications
• Undergraduate or graduate degree in Interior Design and/or Interior Architecture
• 4+ years of experience at an interior design firm
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup, Canva, Google Sheets, and Adobe Creative Suite
• Experience with Studio Designer is a plus
• Working knowledge of construction process and best practices, experience communicating with tradespeople and subs on job sites
• Active interest & knowledge of design trends and best-in-class designers and vendors
• Demonstrated experience drawing custom millwork and furniture details, and reviewing shop drawings with cabinet-makers and upholsterers
• Valid MA Driver’s License
• Comfortable lifting small furniture or materials when needed
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $62,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
