About this role
Palmer Weiss Interior Design is looking for an experienced Designer to design and manage projects from conception through execution and installation. The Designer participates in all phases of a project, including preparing for and participating in client meetings, preparing design schemes, monitoring progress at workroom visits and overseeing and inspecting installations. The Designer will run small to mid-size projects with minimal oversight and will play a critical role in larger projects. Responsibilities: - Interior Design: o Design rooms from start to finish based on direction from client and principal. o Possess a broad knowledge of fabric, carpet, wallpaper, etc. lines used by PWID. o Source new ideas for furniture, lighting, and accessories. o Have a thorough knowledge of upholstery, window treatment fabrication. o Oversee the customization process of all phases of design. o Have a familiarity with antiques and sourcing. o Present to clients independently and to interact with/oversee vendors. - Proficiency in architectural design and plan review: o Independently review architectural plans and interpret necessary components to skillfully determine furniture plans, lighting selections and window treatments. o Generate thoughtful furniture plans and anticipate desired architectural adjustments as a result. - Knowledge of the construction process and materials: • Make bath and kitchen selections with appropriate attention to end use based on knowledge of tiles and slab materials as well as plumbing. • Manage quotes and schedules of all interior details such as tile, paint, flooring, lighting. • Assist in cabinetry design and shop review. • Attend regular site visits with a keen eye towards overall design integrity of work.
