DESIGN INTERN — WILLIAM ADAMS DESIGN Location: Oakland/San Francisco Bay Area (In-person only) Type: Part-Time, Paid Start: Flexible About Wad William Adams Design is a boutique interior architectural design studio with over 22 years of experience and 500+ completed projects across California. We specialize in high-end residential remodels including kitchens, bathrooms, whole home design, and interior design. We are known for our attention to detail, thoughtful process, and strong client relationships. This is a studio that takes design seriously. THE OPPORTUNITY We're looking for a motivated design student in the Oakland/San Francisco Bay area to join us in a hands-on internship role. This isn't a coffee-and-filing position; you'll work directly alongside the principal designer on real projects, gaining exposure to the full arc of residential interior design from concept through construction documentation. Gain direct exposure to the professional residential design industry through William Adams’ active involvement with the NKBA Northern California Chapter (National Kitchen & Bath Association) including opportunities to build connections with respected industry professionals, vendors, and trade partners. Once onboarded, this position may have remote work days. What You'll Do Assist with design research, material sourcing, and finish selectionsSupport drawing production in AutoCADHelp prepare client presentation materials and project documentationAssist with project tracking and procurement support in Studio DesignerCollaborate on day-to-day studio operations using Google WorkspaceAttend site visits and vendor meetings as schedule allows What We're Looking For Currently enrolled in an interior design, interior architecture, or architecture programWorking knowledge of AutoCAD required; familiarity with Studio Designer a plusComfortable working in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive)A keen eye for detail and genuine enthusiasm for residential designReliable, professional, and comfortable working in a small studio environmentBay Area-based and available for in-studio days as neededA working knowledge of AI tools and curiosity around how AI can improve design workflows, client communication, project management, and operational efficiencyComfortable adapting to new systems, processes, and technologies in a fast-paced boutique studio environment with a proactive mindset Compensation Paid hourly, commensurate with experience.
