Interior Design Assistant Location: Milwaukee, WI | Salary: $45,000–$55,000/year | Full-Time About Us: JJB Home Improvements is a leading residential remodeling firm based in Milwaukee, WI, with a 30-year reputation for quality, craftsmanship, and client-centered design. We specialize in thoughtful, high-end renovations including home additions, bathroom and kitchen remodels, basement finishes, and attic conversions. We are seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented Interior Design Assistant to support our Senior Designer in delivering stunning, functional spaces for our clients. Position Overview: The Interior Design Assistant plays a key role in the execution of design projects, balancing creativity with practical application. You’ll assist with all stages of the design process—from concept to construction—ensuring a seamless experience for both the team and our clients. Salary Range: $45,000 – $55,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Key Responsibilities: • Conduct site visits for field measurements and design intake. Collaborate with the Senior Designer to develop efficient and functional floor plans. • Assist with the selection of materials, finishes, fixtures, and furnishings that align with both design vision and client budget. • Prepare client-facing materials including LookBooks, sample presentations, and design boards for approval. • Create and maintain detailed project binders and internal documentation. • Utilize platforms such as BuilderPrime, Fieldwire, and Google Drive to manage and share project data. • Operate design software proficiently (Chief Architect, AutoCAD, 20/20, or similar). • Maintain open and professional communication with clients to ensure satisfaction and project clarity. • Prepare for and participate in design presentations and reveals. • Quickly revise plans and generate updated layouts or documents for electronic signature. • Draft and issue contractual documents used for project scope and construction planning. • Ensure accuracy in material and fixture selections by reconciling plans against vendor orders. • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure product availability and consistency. • Stay current on interior design trends, innovations, and best practices. • Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal libraries and databases of top-performing materials and design elements. Qualifications: • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or a related field preferred. • 1–3 years of relevant experience in residential interior design or remodeling projects. • Proficiency in design software (Chief Architect, AutoCAD, 20/20, etc.). • Strong organizational and time management skills with keen attention to detail. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Confidence working in client-facing situations and managing multiple priorities. • Familiarity with residential construction and a passion for design and trades work.
