WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
• Conduct a furniture needs analysis to define requirements for implementing designs.
• Develop innovative and effective solutions that add value and enhance product application techniques to design solutions.
• Prepare and run design meetings with industry partners and end users.
• Generate custom products/specials, COM testing, shop, and submittal drawings.
• Create final furniture specifications (specs) and pricing.
• Create installation drawing packages.
• Coordinate with AV, plumbing, data, and electrical vendors to ensure seamless integration with furniture layouts.
• Prepare for and conduct site visits and field verifications to ensure accurate on-site assessments.
• Ensure accuracy by performing thorough spec checks and cross-verifying work with team members to maintain high-quality standards.
• Maintain organized and up-to-date email communications, file structures, and drawings, ensuring easy access and efficient retrieval of information.
• Convey ideas effectively through well-crafted detailed drawings, and comprehensive spec books, presenting them in a thoughtful manner.
• Mentor and support other designers, providing guidance and fostering their professional growth and development.
• Demonstrate initiative in self-guided learning to continuously enhance product and industry knowledge.
• Maintain client design standards programs, ensuring consistency and quality across all projects.
• Balance workload capacity, considering project complexity and size to ensure successful outcomes.
• Embrace cross-training on vertical markets, expanding expertise and versatility.
WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE:
• 3+ years of industry experience
• Requires local travel to job sites for on-site assessments and in-person customer meetings
• Strong knowledge of interior commercial construction, architecture, design, real estate, and contract furnishings.
• In-depth product knowledge and application, including experience with Herman Miller and Knoll products.
• Experience presenting to clients, preferably alongside salespeople.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Skilled in translating design concepts into accurate drawings and specifications.
• Capable of assessing architectural field conditions and understanding building system interfaces with furniture.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects efficiently.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, CET, CAP, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite, and commercial furniture industry software; willingness to learn new systems.
• Maintain relevant industry certifications.
• Build and nurture relationships with vendors and industry partners.
• Confident and independent in progressing through the design process with minimal guidance.
• Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop. The employee may occasionally lift and /or move up to 20 pounds. This position may require travel between offices, jobsites, and/or client locations, which may involve extended periods of sitting or standing, lifting light luggage, and adapting to different time zones.
