About this role

Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with a technical support center in South East Asia and East Africa, that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world. The Specification Writer will interpret architectural, engineering, and interior design plans to prepare standards and workmanship criteria, material and equipment lists, and specifications for building construction activities for the VISN 5 VA Health Care Service. Contract term: 1 year Location: Washington D.C. Salary: The salary range for this position, based on market data, is $60K -$90K per annum (depending on experience). This position is contingent on a Task Order award. Key responsibilities: Determine the needs of end-users, plan, gather relevant information, analyze documents, and references Analyze related designs and plan drawings Provide support in establishing a list and guidelines Qualifications to be successful in the role: Associate degree or graduate of an accredited trade school or formal construction apprenticeship program The education requirement may be substituted by eight years of directly related experience At least five years of experience in construction and/or engineering work environment interfacing and coordinating with A/E staff responsible for facility design and construction requirements Knowledgeable in specification software With a technical background in interfacing with engineers and construction professionals Medical center experience is highly preferred Exceptional technical writing and verbal communication skills Must lawfully reside in the United States and be eligible for employment (Planate does not sponsor visas or work permits) COVID 19 PROTOCOL: Due to the nature of work, the successful candidate will be required to comply with all Federal guidelines regarding vaccination for all employees and contractors (as applicable in the respective U.S. State or outlying area).
