JOB OVERVIEW As a Construction / Flooring Estimator, you will be responsible for assessing project requirements, measuring spaces, and providing accurate estimates for flooring installations. You will collaborate closely with clients, contractors, and suppliers to ensure the smooth execution of projects within budgetary constraints and timelines. This is not a remote job. RESPONSIBILITIES • Conduct on-site evaluations to measure flooring areas accurately. • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications to determine flooring requirements. • Collaborate with clients to understand their flooring preferences, budgetary constraints, and project timelines. • Utilize estimating software and tools to calculate material quantities, labor costs, and project expenses. • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates, proposals, and bids for flooring projects. • Coordinate with suppliers to obtain pricing, availability, and delivery schedules for flooring materials. • Communicate effectively with contractors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to ensure alignment on project scope and requirements. • Evaluate and analyze project risks, challenges, and potential cost variations. • Update and maintain records of project estimates, contracts, change orders, and related documentation and prepares Field Work Orders to relay job scope. • Provide guidance and support to project teams regarding flooring materials, installation techniques, and quality standards. • Keep abreast of industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and new flooring products and technologies. • Participate in meetings, site visits, and project reviews to address issues, resolve conflicts, and optimize project performance. QUALIFICATIONS • Proven experience as a flooring estimator or a similar role in the construction industry. • Proficiency in using preferred estimating software. • Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail for accurate measurements and calculations. • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, contractors, and team members. • Solid understanding of flooring materials, installation methods, and industry best practices. • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines. • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess project requirements and mitigate risks. • Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and safety standards related to flooring installations. • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a collaborative team environment. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (preferred). • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in contract flooring sales or construction estimating.
