Overview: We are seeking a passionate and experienced Design Studio Lead to spearhead excellence in our Commercial Interiors studio. In this pivotal role, you will drive critical design discussions across project teams, ensuring that our work aligns seamlessly with our strategic goals. As the Design Studio Lead, you will oversee multiple projects, cultivate leadership skills, and engage in meaningful collaboration, all while delivering exceptional design solutions to our valued clients. Responsibilities: • Support and guide project design leaders and teams within the studio, ensuring design quality and strategic alignment. • Collaborate in strategic planning efforts and facilitate effective communication regarding studio marketing strategies and resource allocation. • Implement evaluative measures for design standards during all project phases, focusing on integration, innovation, and impact. • Engage in project collaboration from marketing stages through construction completion, addressing client needs and developing insightful project visions. • Work alongside project leaders to guide teams through all project phases, providing mentorship and design direction. • Act as a key client liaison, nurturing relationships by understanding client goals and needs. • Manage client expectations and coordinate team communication to foster seamless collaboration. • Monitor staffing and growth within the studio, recommending adjustments to enhance efficiency. • Serve as a technical resource, resolving complex challenges and supporting team development. • Guide concept development and inspire design teams to achieve exceptional documentation quality and client satisfaction. • Collaborate with leadership to communicate firm priorities and initiatives, ensuring alignment within the studio. • Prioritize sustainable design and HKS strategic initiatives in client solutions. • Foster a collaborative atmosphere across teams, minimizing operational barriers. • Integrate HKS services and innovative practices into all projects, seeking opportunities for sustainable solutions. • Employ persuasion and negotiation skills on significant design issues. Qualifications: • Accredited professional degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field, or equivalent education or experience. • Preferred licensure or certification relevant to the discipline. • At least 15 years of experience, with a solid track record in a leadership role and success in project work and talent development. • Extensive experience within the specific practice area of the studio. • Preferred accreditation in sustainable design. • Familiarity with design software and the functionality of Vision is advantageous. • Experience with MS Office Suite, including Microsoft Project and Microsoft Teams is preferred. • Proficient in logistics management to ensure efficient use of resources. • Proven experience leading design teams from business development to strategic design execution. • Successful history of building and nurturing client relationships. • Exceptional presentation skills with strong leadership and communication abilities. • Excellent organizational skills with the capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. • Ability to work closely with design leaders, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. • A diplomatic and collaborative leadership style that values internal and external relationships. • Clear and professional communication skills, both verbal and written. • Innovative problem-solving capabilities. • Team-oriented mindset with a focus on collaboration. • Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining quality standards. • Willingness to travel as required.
