About this role
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Design Studio Manager to oversee the execution of our commercial interior design projects from contract to installation. This role will lead the coordination of design deliverables, procurement, and scheduling while managing a team of four interior designers and one draftsman. The ideal candidate will be experienced in construction documentation, design contracts, resource planning, and quality control.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Documentation & Quality Control
• Review and approve construction documents for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to project requirements
• Ensure drawings and specifications meet code, client expectations, and fabrication standards
• Maintain quality assurance protocols throughout all phases of design and documentation
Contract & Procurement Oversight
• Review and manage design service agreements and procurement contracts for clarity, scope, and risk management
• Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to support timely procurement of furnishings, finishes, and materials
• Track and manage budgets related to FF&E, millwork, and third-party services
Team Management
• Supervise and support a team of four interior designers and one draftsman
• Assign and monitor tasks and deadlines based on project needs and team capacity
• Provide mentoring, guidance, and performance feedback to team members
Scheduling & Resource Planning
• Maintain and manage capacity schedules across all active and upcoming projects
• Align project timelines with design resources, installation schedules, and vendor lead times
• Anticipate staffing needs based on project pipeline and deadlines
Process & Communication
• Serve as the primary liaison between design, production, vendors, and clients for execution-phase deliverables
• Create and maintain standardized workflows and communication protocols for improved efficiency
• Report progress, issues, and risks to company leadership in a timely, solutions-oriented manner
Qualifications:
• 5+ years in interior design project coordination, operations, or studio management, preferably in commercial design
• Strong knowledge of construction documentation, design agreements, and procurement processes
• Proficient in project management tools and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, MS Project, Studio Designer, etc.)
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and personalities in a fast-paced environment
• Detail-oriented with a strategic mindset and ability to spot risk or inefficiency early
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
