Why You’re Here
As an Associate Designer you bring 10+ years of experience and a passion for
creating innovative, functional, and inclusive corporate interiors. You’ve honed
your skills in managing interior design projects from concept to completion,
collaborating with clients, contractors, and cross-functional teams to deliver
exceptional results. You have a deep understanding of workplace trends and
client needs across industries, and you’re excited about transforming spaces into
inspiring environments that reflect each client’s unique vision and goals.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
• As a key part of the design team, your responsibilities will include:
• Design Leadership: Transform and refresh workplace environments for clients across various industries by producing creative, high-quality designs that align with client goals and company values.
• Client Collaboration: Work closely with our Business Development Principal and Construction team to communicate Unispace’s design methodology and build strong, trust-based client relationships.
• Project Management: Oversee design projects from concept through completion, including managing project budgets and schedules to ensure alignment with client goals.
• Team Mentorship: Lead and mentor junior staff, offering guidance on design development, client management, and career growth.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with internal and external teams, including structural, MEP, lighting, AV, and landscape consultants, to ensure seamless project execution.
• Documentation & Technical Drawings: Develop and review architectural documents and construction details, ensuring design intent is maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
• Product & Material Research: Conduct product research and assist with material selection to ensure sustainable, innovative, and functional designs.
• Site Visits & Construction Administration: Visit project sites, process submittals, manage Requests for Information (RFIs), and oversee construction processes.
• Client Communication: Effectively communicate design concepts, project updates, and final presentations to clients, ensuring their vision is realized in every aspect of the project.
• Innovative Contributions: Contribute to enhancing company design standards by bringing fresh, creative perspectives and a collaborative, “outside-the-box” approach to design challenges.
• Inclusive Design Practices: Support a culture of inclusivity, creativity, and innovation, ensuring designs meet the needs of diverse clients and teams.

Your Experience & Skills
• Experience: 10-12+ years in interior design, architecture, or a related field,
with a focus on corporate interiors.
• Leadership: Proven ability to lead small teams, manage project deliverables, and mentor junior designers.
• Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Revit is required; experience with additional design software is a plus.
• Client Diversity: Experience working with diverse clients across industries, including law, entertainment, finance, marketing, and more.
• Building Codes & Trends: Strong understanding of building codes, sustainability practices, and current design trends, with the ability to research and apply these to your work.
• Technical Expertise: Expertise in creating technical drawings, detailed material specifications, and overseeing construction processes.
• FF&E & Detailing: Familiarity with FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment) and a keen eye for interior detailing, including millwork and finishes.
• Budget & Timeline Management: Proven ability to manage budgets, timelines, and cost plans, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within scope.
• Proposal Writing & Client Engagement: Experience writing design proposals and working with sales teams to finalize contracts and project plans.
• Education & Certification: A degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is preferred. AIA, NCIDQ licensure, and/or LEED certification are a plus, but not required.
