About this role

The Department of Interior Design, Furnishing, and Fashion Design is housed in the dynamic School of Arts and Design at High Point University. The interior design program is NASAD and CIDA accredited. The department is expanding and requires the addition of a new non-tenure-track assistant professor to help us deliver innovative, rigorous Bachelor of Science in Interior Design. The department also offers a minor in Visual Merchandising Design, and students greatly benefit from the school’s relationship with the High Point Market, the largest furniture market in the world. The department houses a tech lab and a Center for Innovation makerspace. We are committed to integrating technology with creativity, and we are looking to add enthusiastic, energetic faculty to help us realize our vision. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: • Terminal degree in interior design or related discipline • At least one degree must be in interior design or architecture • Some experience teaching at the college/university level • NCIDQ Certification intention • Be a good communicator, collaborator and team player who can thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, extraordinary environment QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED: • PhD in relevant discipline • LEED AP or similar certification Some practitioner experience in interior design • RESPONSIBILITIES: • Teach undergraduate studio and/or lecture courses in design communication, building technologies, merchandising and/or studio design. • Revit and Adobe Suite capabilities. • Participate in departmental and university service • Actively engage with the design community to elevate our programs Participate in innovative teaching and curriculum development and assessment • APPLICATION PROCESS: To ensure consideration, completed application packages must be received by March 1 2026; however, screening continues until position is closed.
