About this role

Grand Rapids Community College seeks qualified candidates to teach Interior Design courses in the Fall and Winter semesters at our downtown campus and various regional sites. About the Job This is a part-time, adjunct faculty position. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching interior design courses, maintaining accurate course records, and submitting related reports as requested. Responsibilities • Maintain accurate course records and submit related reports as requested. • Effectively assess student performance. • Create a safe and inclusive learning environment for students. • Utilize multiple strategies to facilitate learning, i.e. small group work, workshops, etc. • Incorporate new technologies and methods that enhance teaching and learning into their instructional methods. • Support the Department and College through other work normally expected of adjunct faculty members. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in the field of interior design or a related field. • 4000 hours of experience in the field of interior design. • Community college experience preferred. • Successful teaching experience in the discipline preferred. Preferred Qualifications • Experience working with adults from diverse backgrounds and with varying academic skills. • Participation in professional development and/or continuous improvement activities in order to remain current in the field. Working Conditions The ideal candidate will have a high energy level with enthusiasm and interest in helping and supporting students, staff, and the general public. They must use good judgment in handling sensitive or difficult situations in a pleasant and professional manner.
