About the Program
Since 2003, Hanbury has offered the Nicholas E. Vlattas Summer Scholars Program, a highly competitive experience that brings students from interior design and related programs together in an immersive studio environment. The program blends interior design exploration with hands-on professional practice, providing practical experience aligned with the Interior Design Experience Program (IDEP), including exposure to design and construction documents, construction administration, and project management.
Summer Scholars with an interior design background, work alongside Interior Designers and project teams while participating in enrichment workshops such as 3D software, hand rendering, marketing, the business of design, firm forums, design travel, and site tours of projects under construction. Scholars have a unique opportunity to build professional skills while working within a firm grounded in meaningful connections to place and community.
