Job Purpose and ScopeThe Interior Designer - Store Planning supports Dillard's in creating functional and visually compelling retail environments. This role focuses on space planning, material selection, budgeting, and collaboration with internal teams to ensure that new store layouts and remodels meet Dillard's standards for quality and customer experience. The designer is responsible for maintaining effective communication with vendors and contractors to ensure timely and accurate project execution.Essential Job FunctionsCollaborate with the Director of Store Design, Store Planning, and Merchandising teams on layout designs for new stores and remodels.Develop floorcovering and furniture budgets based on project scope and design requirements.Integrate floorcovering and furniture specifications into CAD drawings to ensure accurate project documentation.Oversee ordering of flooring materials and furniture, coordinating with suppliers to ensure timely delivery to construction sites.Maintain a sample library of materials, furniture, and finishes, coordinating appointments with suppliers and manufacturers as needed.Assist in color and material selection, providing updates and guidance to project teams and relevant stakeholders.Utilize 3D modeling and rendering software to visualize new designs and create realistic presentations as required.Support the Merchandising team and Director of Design in developing new fixture and shop designs to align with evolving store concepts.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesFamiliarity with industry standards for retail space planning, including furniture, office, and spatial planning practices.Proficiency in CAD and 3D modeling software for drafting and rendering interior layouts.Experience with image editing software to support design presentation and project visualization.Strong project management skills to handle budgeting, scheduling, and coordination of materials.Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities to address design challenges effectively.Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work closely with internal teams, suppliers, and manufacturers.Highly organized with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Note: This description is not an exhaustive list of all job functions, duties, skills, and job standards required.
