Director of Interiors – Commercial Interior Design Location: Austin, TX Type: Full-Time About Us We are a collaborative, design-driven commercial interior design firm focused on creating thoughtful, high-performing environments with a strong focus on commercial industrial and office spaces. The Role We are seeking a Director of Interiors with 7+ years of commercial interior design experience to lead projects from concept through completion. The Director of Interiors is a senior leadership role responsible for advancing firm growth, design excellence, operational performance and client development. Key Responsibilities Lead and execute commercial interior design projects across all phases (programming, schematic design, design development, and construction documentation) Well spoken and strong representation of the company on multiple networking platforms Translate client goals into compelling, functional design solutions Ensures consistent implementation of company processes and holds the team accountable to performance standards Prepare and review construction documents and specifications Onboarding, directing and managing all aspects of the lifecycle of the projects Mentor and guide junior designers; contribute to a collaborative studio culture includes cross training across all company initiatives Manage all firm due dates and project schedules Stay calm under pressure and pivot priorities at a moment’s notice as project needs shift Qualifications 7+ years of professional experience in commercial interior design NCIDQ certification licensure REQUIRED Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture Strong portfolio demonstrating commercial interiors Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD (required) and Adobe Creative Suite preferred Solid understanding of building codes, ADA requirements, and construction processes Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills What We Offer Competitive salary commensurate with experience Benefits package including [health insurance, PTO, 401(k), etc.] Hybrid work schedule: in office 4 days/WFH Fridays Opportunities for professional growth and leadership development How to Apply Please submit your resume and portfolio to gina@kdsaustin.com with the subject line: Director of Interiors – Commercial Interior Design.
