Professional, Interior Workspace Design

This person would support the Space Planning and Design team. Many tasks involve on demand furniture requests (most fulfilled from our managed surplus), organize and inventory the surplus furniture, perform small projects, instruct the GHs on how to work with furniture properly, and communicate with tenants on behalf of our team. Specific skills performed and identified: • Basics of Surplus furniture program field support - (enabling timely Customer Responsiveness, optimizing asset management, and GM Zero Waste Initiatives) • Organize and document inventory in storage rooms at the Tech Center: Cole CVS, Cole Red basement, Cole penthouse, Sloan central basement, Sloan south basement, Anker Johnson storage area. • Manage and track disposition of furniture in surplus storage, dispose of material beyond it’s useful life/use in accordance with GM asset disposal guidelines with a mindset of keeping this material from going into a landfill. • Oversee movement and installation of minor surplus furniture reconfigurations, requiring modification and furniture carpentry skills on the GTC campus.

Interior Designer

• Serves as a workplace design point of contact for design project • Delivers client workplace guidelines; recommends new standards and looks for continued improvements to the client workplace design • Creates test fits and suggests workplace improvements in response to client business needs • Provides proposals to maximize space efficiencies while implementing solutions in-line with corporate real estate goals • Collaborates with Real Estate Portfolio Strategist, Project Management, Occupancy Planners, Move Managers and other CRE team members • Interfaces with Client to develop new workplace options, finalize project design concepts and prepare final documents for client approval • Organizes all data analytics and space solutions into presentation format for client delivery • Confirm preliminary space plans and design concepts are safe, functional, aesthetically appropriate, and meet all public health, safety, and applicable code requirements • Establishes and maintains an organized file system for all projects • Communicates with Project Management, Space Planning and Move Management for CAD needs and coordinate updates to the drawings accordingly • Provides reporting on the implementation of projects while in progress and upon completion • Determine selection of colors, materials, and finishes to appropriately convey the concept and meet clients requirements • Establish selection and specification of interior architectural elements, fixtures, equipment, and millwork, including layout drawings. • Bachelor’s Degree • Specify preferred major: Architecture, Interior Design (NCIDQ a plus) • Skilled in AutoCAD- required • Proficient or ability to learn client specific CAFM software • Proficient or ability to learn project specific design software- SketchUp | Photoshop • Proficient in programming and space planning for a varying sized spaces • Understands standards and guidelines for programming codes, procedures, documentation, and project systems organization • Excellent organization and documentation experience required • Anticipates, identifies, quantifies, and resolves problems in a timely and positive manner • Consistently meets deadlines and completes tasks as previously defined • Works with integrity, trust and commitment, setting an example for others • Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills • Excellent client service and interpersonal relationship skills • Has the ability to learn new graphic software to compliment the presentation of new designs • Demonstrates a working knowledge of various office furniture systems • Possesses analytical skills and the ability to develop conclusions and recommendations • Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists • Ability to read architectural and engineering drawings, concepts & design • Experienced in managing design projects of varied scope and complexity • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external partners to deliver effective services • Assumes ownership of requests in order to ensure successful completion • Strong attention to detail and quality • Works with integrity, trust and commitment, setting an example for others • Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented orally and in writing. • Ability to communicate information and ideas in writing and orally so others will understand.
