The Design Associate provides support to the lead architect in the design, selection, coordination, and detailing of architectural materials and systems. Essential Functions And Responsibilities Include • Acquires basic knowledge and develops skills in a specific practice area • Applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks • Exercises limited judgment on details of work and in application of standard methods for conventional work • Acquires and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities • Performs basic design tasks • Perform code and product research • Visits sites to prepare as-built drawings of existing buildings • Prepares construction document drawings in CAD or Revit • Assists on other tasks such as preparation of permit applications and project manuals • Collects data and gathers information, performs standard computation and analysis • Coordinates with engineering consultants on assigned projects • Prepare meeting agendas and document meeting notes • Responds to contractors RFIs and communications during construction • Review shop drawings for conformance with construction documents • Occasional site visits to projects during the construction phase to monitor construction progress • Performs any other tasks as needed by Supervisor Minimum Qualifications • Strong oral and written communication skills • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) from an accredited architectural program • Previous architectural internship experience preferred • Must be able to perform work-related travel and have a valid driver’s license • Must be local to GMC office
