Assistant Interior Designer
Job Description We are seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and highly organized Assistant Interior Designer to support our Interior Design and Decorating projects. This role works closely with the Lead Interior Designer to help bring thoughtful, functional, and aesthetically cohesive spaces to life. The ideal candidate has a strong design sensibility, excellent organizational skills, and is comfortable juggling both creative and logistical responsibilities. This is not a construction or contractor role. Key Responsibilities Design & Creative SupportAssist the Lead Interior Designer with client consultations, concept development, and design planningSupport the creation of mood boards, concept boards, space plans, and design presentationsHelp source furniture, décor, lighting, textiles, finishes, and accessories aligned with the project visionAssist with styling, staging, and final installation of interior spacesProject & Vendor CoordinationCoordinate with vendors, showrooms, and suppliers to request quotes, lead times, and samplesTrack orders, deliveries, and installation schedulesAssist with on-site installs, styling days, and project punch listsMaintain accurate project documentation, specs, and design assetsOrganization & OperationsManage samples, swatches, and the design libraryAssist with organizing client project files, budgets, and timelinesSupport procurement tracking and documentationHelp maintain a clean, organized workspace during projects and installationsQualifications1–3 years of experience in interior design, interior decorating, or a related creative fieldStrong visual eye for color, texture, scale, and compositionExperience supporting client-facing design projects from concept through installationProficiency with design tools such as Canva, Sketch Up, AutoCAD, or similar (preferred but not required)Excellent communication skills with clients, vendors, and team membersHighly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and deadline-drivenAbility to work both independently and collaborativelyComfortable juggling multiple projects and shifting prioritiesAdditional RequirementsFlexible daytime availability (weekday hours required)Reliable transportation for local site visits, vendor sourcing, and installationsAbility to lift up to 30 lbs, bend, reach, navigate stairs, and assist with physical setup tasksProfessional, warm, polished, and client-focused demeanorComfortable working in clients’ homes and maintaining discretionAbility to take high-quality project photos (before/after, styling details)Willingness to assist with light setup, breakdown, and post-install cleanupValid driver's license and reliable transportationAbility to pass a background check and provide at least (3) three professional referencesAvailability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if neededEducationHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredDegree or coursework in interior design, interior decorating, fine arts, or a related field is a plusKey CompetenciesAttention to Detail – Ability to execute design plans precisely and notice visual inconsistenciesCreativity & Problem Solving – Translate concepts into functional, beautiful spaces within constraintsClient Sensitivity & Professionalism – Navigate client preferences, budgets, and feedback gracefullyFlexibility & Adaptability – Adjust to evolving project scopes, timelines, and design decisionsPhysical Stamina – Comfortable assisting with installs, styling days, and on-site workEarning PotentialCompensation is competitive and commensurate with experience, with opportunities for growth and expanded responsibilities over time.Employment TypeFreelance / Independent Contractor: This is a freelance position for an independent contractor to work on an as-needed basis with frequency expected to increase as the business grows#J-18808-Ljbffr
