Teaching Assistant Professor of Interior Architecture and Design (non‑tenure track) University of Arkansas, Fay Jones School of Architecture + Design, Department of Interior Architecture and Design. The Department of Interior Architecture and Design seeks an individual to lead innovative and transdisciplinary approaches to teaching in a vibrant team. The full‑time, nine‑month position is for one academic year with potential additional summer teaching. Responsibilities Teach 18‑22 credit hours of undergraduate coursework per academic year, including two studios or one studio plus two lectures/seminars per semester. Lead studio and classroom instruction, create curriculum material, construct syllabi, assess student knowledge and skills, advise students, and provide scholarship guidance. Serve the department, school, university, and community through teaching and service. Participate in the department’s structured promotion system from Teaching Assistant to Associate to Full Teaching Professor. Qualifications Minimum Terminal graduate degree in interior design, interior architecture, or a related discipline. Excellent body of creative and technical design work. Excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills. Preferred One or more degrees in interior design or interior architecture. Experience employing current best teaching practices in studios and seminars. Experience with emerging technologies, digital fabrication, BIM, VR, AI, and/or visualization. Ability to teach digitally integrated and comprehensive design studios. Professional practice experience designing interior space. NCIDQ certification or willingness to complete the exam. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Active, involved, collegial member of a collaborative studio teaching team. Willingness to advocate for interior architecture and design education and professional practice. Salary and Rank Competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
