shonna sexton studio, LLC is an award winning, full-service boutique interior design firm based in Nashville, Tennessee. Since 2007, our studio has created thoughtful, motivating spaces for the way people live, work, gather, and feel. We are looking for a Junior Interior Designer to join our
team and support residential and commercial projects from concept through installation.
This role is a great fit for an emerging designer with 1–3 years of experience who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow in a collaborative studio environment. Our mission is “Creating spaces that motivate people,” and we are looking for someone who brings curiosity, kindness, organization, professionalism, attention to detail, and a positive, solution-based approach to every project and relationship.
What we are looking for:
A degree in Interior Design, or active progress toward an Interior Design degree.1–3 years of interior design experience preferred, including internship, studio, or project support experience.A genuine love for design, details, materials, people, problem-solving, and the process of bringing ideas to life.Strong organization, follow-through, time management, and ability to work well under deadlines.Professional, dependable, punctual, and comfortable communicating clearly and graciously with clients, vendors, contractors, and team members.Self-motivation and the ability to support multiple projects at one time using shonna sexton studio standards, systems, and processes.Proficiency in SketchUp, AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, Canva, Microsoft Office, and digital presentation tools is a strong plus.Knowledge of construction drawing coordination, codes, materials, furniture, specifications, finish selections, and design documentation is a strong plus.Must live within 30 minutes of Nashville, Tennessee, and be available for in-person studio work, site visits, vendor visits, and installations.Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and ability to transport samples or project materials as needed.Product, vendor, showroom, and local trade resource knowledge is a plus.
What you’ll do:
Support the principal designer and design team with care, thoughtfulness, and attention to detail through all phases of client projects.Participate in field verification, including measurements, notes, and photos of existing conditions.Assist with concept presentations that tell the story of each project through plans, imagery, finish palettes, furniture ideas, and presentation materials.Prepare SketchUp models, AutoCAD drawings, presentation drawings, and occasional hand sketches to communicate design intent clearly.Prepare specification packages, finish schedules, furniture selections, and project documentation with accuracy and consistency.Attend client, vendor, contractor, and job site meetings; take clear notes and assist with thoughtful follow-up items.Research and source products, materials, furnishings, finishes, lighting, plumbing, hardware, art, accessories, and vendors/distributors that support the project vision.Order, organize, label, and track samples for client presentations and project files.Develop project presentations, finish boards, sourcing documents, and client-facing design materials that reflect the studio’s standards and aesthetic.Coordinate with vendors on quotes, order processing, lead times, acknowledgements, delivery updates, and issue resolution with professionalism and follow-through.Assist with installation preparation, site styling, punch lists, and post-installation follow-up to help each project finish well.Assist the Branding Coordinator with social media content by gathering project photos, product information, and design notes as needed.
