Technical Designer + Quality Control Specialist
Success in this role includes:
Reviewing and quality-controlling construction document setsRedlining drawings and coordinating corrections with project teamsAssisting with technical detailing and drawing productionSupporting permit submissions and responding to city commentsCoordinating with consultants to ensure complete and accurate documentationCatching inconsistencies, code issues, and coordination conflicts before issuanceSupporting designers and project managers with the technical side of project delivery
This person will occasionally assist in producing construction documents and may have opportunities to lead smaller or highly technical projects when appropriate, but the primary focus of the role is technical support, coordination, and quality control.
Responsibilities
Technical Documentation & Production
Assist with production and coordination of construction document setsSupport project teams with technical detailing, code research, and drawing coordinationDevelop details, finish plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, and millwork packages as neededEnsure drawing consistency, accuracy, and coordination across all sheetsMaintain CAD/Revit standards and documentation organizationAssist with revisions and updates throughout project phasesPermitting & City Coordination
Submit drawing packages to cities and municipalities for permit reviewCoordinate directly with plan reviewers, permitting departments, and expeditorsTrack permit progress and respond to review comments in a timely mannerRevise drawing sets based on city comments and resubmit as requiredUnderstand applicable building codes, accessibility requirements, and local jurisdiction standardsQuality Control & Redlining
Perform thorough QA/QC reviews on drawing sets before issuanceRedline and coordinate corrections with internal team membersReview consultant drawings for coordination conflicts and completenessEnsure technical accuracy and constructability across project documentationCatch inconsistencies, omissions, and coordination issues before submissionProject Coordination
Coordinate with MEP, structural, civil, and specialty consultantsAttend project coordination meetings as neededAssist project managers and designers with technical project supportAssist with contractor RFIs, submittals, and construction administration tasksSupport multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environmentServe as a technical resource for the internal team
Qualifications
Degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, or related field7+ years of experience in commercial architecture or interior architectureStrong technical construction documentation experience requiredProficiency in Revit requiredExperience with permit submissions and city review processesStrong understanding of building codes, ADA requirements, and commercial interiorsAbility to read, redline, and coordinate consultant drawingsStrong organization and time management skillsHigh attention to detail and commitment to quality controlAbility to work independently while collaborating with a team
