SPATIAL DESIGNER
Department: Design
Reports To: Creative Director
Location: New York & Los Angeles
Pink Sparrow is seeking a Spatial Designer to support the development of experiential and spatial environments, spanning brand activations, retail environments, and immersive installations. This role works closely with the Creative Director, Designers, and Fabrication teams to translate narrative-driven ideas into buildable, real-world environments. We are hiring for this role on both coasts - one position based in New York City and one in Los Angeles.
Essential Responsibilities:
Spatial Design & Development:
- Develop spatial concepts for experiential, retail, and immersive environments
- Produce 3D models, renderings, and visualizations to communicate design intent
- Translate creative direction into clear, buildable design solutions
- Work within real-world constraints including site, budget, materials, and fabrication methods
Design Integration & Execution:
- Collaborate with Creative Directors and Design Leads to execute design intent
- Integrate materials, finishes, and construction methods into design thinking from early phases
- Support development of schematic designs and design documentation as needed
Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration:
- Coordinate with Fabrication and Production teams to ensure feasibility and alignment
- Collaborate with internal print and production teams to ensure environmental graphics are accurately integrated into spatial designs
- Communicate design decisions clearly across teams
Project Planning & Communication:
- Manage multiple projects and shifting priorities within fast-paced timelines
- Support development and preparation of design materials for internal reviews and client presentations, including mood boards, layouts, and visual assets
- Maintain organized file structures and clear documentation across projects
Organizational Alignment & Accountability:
- Contribute to studio-wide design standards and evolving workflows
- Support a collaborative, high-performing team environment
- Demonstrate ownership, flexibility, and a solutions-oriented mindset
Qualifications:
Required:
- 3-5 years of experience in experiential, environmental, retail, or spatial design
- Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Environmental Design, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- High proficiency in Rhino and rendering tools such as Enscape (or similar)
- High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
- Strong understanding of materials, fabrication methods, and spatial systems
- Experience taking projects from concept into production
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced
environment
Preferred:
- Familiarity with AI-assisted design tools as part of the design process
- Experience developing or integrating environmental graphics within spatial designs
- Familiarity with parametric design tools (e.g. Grasshopper)
- Experience with additional 3D tools such as Blender
