Senior Interior Designer

We are seeking a senior designer who can lead projects from start to finish: plan it, specify it, furnish it, and oversee the construction and design implementation. Morris Lare is a full-service residential studio in Valley Junction, West Des Moines. We are a small collaborative team doing big things. House Beautiful named us a 2024 Next Wave designer, one of twelve nationally and the only Iowa firm. Our work is new construction, whole-home renovations, kitchens and baths, and lake and second homes. A majority of our projects include furnishings and/or construction oversight. What you'll own Lead 3 to 5 projects at a time from space planning through final install, as the client's day-to-day contact Direct our in-house drafting team with clear sketches and redlines for floor plans, elevations, cabinetry and millwork Specify the whole house, from tile and plumbing through upholstery, rugs and custom window treatments, sourced from the full breadth of our trade accounts Present design direction to clients Run construction oversight: weekly site visits on every active build, catching problems with the builder and trades before they're built in, and making sure the house is ready before furniture arrives What you bring [5+] years at a full-service residential interior design firm Hands-on construction oversight: you've walked active job sites and worked directly with contractors and trades Real furnishings depth: to-the-trade vendors, custom upholstery, drapery and workrooms A portfolio that shows how you got there, such as plans, sketches or spec packages, not only finished photos Comfort with how a small studio runs: you'll log every hour to a client project, projects are collaborative, and everyone pitches in where needed Pay and benefits $35 to $45 per hour, full time, hourly with overtime - subject to experience Discretionary quarterly profit sharing, plus annual performance bonus 3% employer 401(k) contribution after one year and 1,000 hours PTO that accrues from your first day, plus 7 paid holidays and a flex day Work driving covered under our company insurance How to apply Apply with your resume and a link to your portfolio.
