Nicole Gordon Studio is an award-winning boutique interior design firm based in Santa Monica, California focusing on private homes, commercial spaces, and hospitality venues throughout Los Angeles, Malibu, Palm Springs, San Francisco, Park City, New York, and Miami.
We are seeking a full-time Senior Designer to oversee and manage a number of new and ongoing residential projects. The ideal candidate will have excellent communications skills and be comfortable working in both self-directed and collaborative environments. They will be hands-on, open-minded, detail-oriented and have a desire to work in teams with multiple designers, builders, fabricators, and developers. This is a full-time position with compensation and benefits commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities
Support Principal Designer in managing all phases of the design process with a deep understanding of how to translate the Principal’s conceptual ideas across all facets: from clear and engaging client presentations, consensus building with other subcontractors and collaborators, to vendor negotiations & design intent, construction drawings, etc.Generation and management of design contract, scope, detailed schedule, estimated budget, and vendor expensesVisualization, drawing, and documentation of the project, including client presentations of work and management of feedback, furniture plans, interior elevations, and 3D modeling of furniture and spacesLead FF&E procurement process, including sourcing, vendor quotes, proposal preparation, purchase orders, client invoices, and timely paymentsPresence at all site visits, client meetings and meetings with architects, contractors or subcontractors. Responsible for meeting notes/minutes and managing the internal team workflows amongst the design team and external project schedules with subcontractors, vendors, and clients/client representatives.Assist with on-site installations and site visits, working hand-in-glove with vendors and contractors
Required Skills & Experience
College graduate, preferably with a degree in Interior Design or ArchitectureAt least 5 years of professional experience at a design firmProficiency with Data & Project Management software, Studio Designer, or equivalent is requiredRefined presentation and visualization skills with experience in Rhinoceros 3D, Enscape or other real-time rendering softwareExtensive experience in high-end residential design and proficiency in spatial planning, material research and selection, general interior design language, architectural concepts & construction documentsStrong design talent, and genuine/sincere interest in interior design and architecture, as well as free-hand drawing skillsAbility and experience originating concepts, as well as leading and managing numerous on-going projects and designersExtensive knowledge of vendors, showrooms, designers, with an emphasis to those based in the United States and across EuropeProject experience should include the submission of drawing sets, specifications, technical production, and basic code knowledgeMust have a valid driver’s license, own a reliable vehicle, and currently live in the Los Angeles area
Ideal Candidate
Ability to travel domestically and internationally for client installationsApplicants must have CA experience (submittal, RFI, ASI/IDSK review/response and consultant coordination)Experience in AutoCAD, Rhinoceros 3D, Photoshop, Bluebeam/Acrobat and Microsoft Office Proficient is preferred, but not requiredFamiliarity and interest in fine art, art history, and architectureExcellent written and verbal skills
